Cynthia Leavesley is having an art show of her paintings 11:00-6:00pm, Saturday, January 27th at Black Dog Books (115 S. Main Street). Cynthia will be here to meet and speak with you about her art. She is inspired by the beauty of nature and began drawing and photographing when she was young and began exhibiting and winning awards at age 13.
Her focus for the past 10 years has been in pastel and oil painting, especially plein air painting where she absorbs the vibrancy and true essence of the subject. She frequently travels to coastal areas so she can capture her favorite subject – the luminescent quality of light found there.
Cynthia’s work has been influenced by her study and appreciation of many artists and their work, especially the French and American impressionists, Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth and John Singer Sargent. She has studied with Rosalie Nadeau, Elizabeth Mowry, Robert Eberle, Larry Rudolph, Pam Newell, Stan Moeller and Mary-Jean Weber. Her work can be seen at various locations and galleries throughout the U.S.
Cynthia is excited to be relocating to Maine, a place she has always found visually inspiring. This art show will possibly be the best time to see Cynthia and her beautiful paintings before she leaves Indiana.
